Hong Kong is expected to be hit by thunderstorms and showers on Saturday, with the weather to remain unsettled for the rest of the Easter holiday, the local forecaster has warned.
The Hong Kong Observatory said on Friday that occasional showers – which would be heavier at times – and some fast-moving thunderstorms brought by a trough of low pressure would hit the Guangdong coast the next day. “The trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the following couple of days.
The weather will remain unsettled.
There will be occasional showers with squally thunderstorms,” the forecaster said.
The rainy weather is expected to continue on Sunday, which will be mainly cloudy and windy on high ground, accompanied by a few squally thunderstorms.
The relative humidity will range between 75 and 95 per cent throughout the weekend until Monday.
Under the influence of an easterly airstream, one or two rain patches may still loom over Hong Kong on Wednesday.
But the weather will brighten up later next week with the strengthening of an anticyclone aloft, with hotter weather and sunny periods expected during the day.
According to the latest nine-day forecast, temperatures will reach as high as 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) from next Friday onwards.
