Police said they received a report at 9.18am that the man, who is in his sixties, had fallen while working at a building at 88 Yeung Uk Road.
The man was unconscious as he was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung, the force said. “As of 11.45am, the worker was admitted to the intensive care unit,” a police spokesman said.
Fay Siu Sin-man, chief executive of the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims, told the South China Morning Post that the worker remained in critical condition.
Siu’s organisation, which is attempting to contact the man’s family, said the man fell from a three-metre-tall (9.84 feet) aluminium ladder while working on an air conditioning unit.
Police records, meanwhile, put the length of the ladder at about 1.5 metres.
On social media, the association said it had recorded at least five serious accidents over the past three years that involved workers falling off ladders. “We reiterate that all ladders are only suitable as channels for workers to travel up and down.
Do not treat ‘A-frame’ ladders or vertical ladders as work platforms,” the association warned.
It added that employers should provide appropriate headgear and proper work platforms to ensure
safety. 获取更多RSS: https://feedx.net https://feedx.site
